Visa Status Settings
How to set and change your visa status.
Setting your visa status
You choose your visa status during onboarding (Step 3). The options are:
- US Citizen -- No visa filtering. Full job pool.
- Green Card / Permanent Resident -- No visa filtering. Full job pool.
- F1-OPT -- Enables H1B sponsor filter by default. Flags "no sponsorship" jobs.
- F1-CPT -- Same as OPT, plus flags part-time vs. full-time requirements.
- H1B -- Filters for transfer-friendly employers (companies with H1B transfer history, not just new filings).
- Other -- Free text field. Best-effort matching with a note that sponsorship eligibility can't be verified.
What your status changes
Your visa status affects:
- Job filtering -- Which jobs appear in your feed by default.
- Match scoring -- The visa dimension (5% of total score) factors in sponsorship compatibility.
- Cover letters -- Option to include a work authorization statement when generating cover letters.
- Sponsor badges -- H1B sponsor badges appear on job cards for users who need sponsorship.
Changing your status
Go to Settings > Visa Status and select a new option. All future scans and scoring use the new status immediately.
Existing saved jobs are not automatically re-scored. You can trigger a manual re-score from any job's detail panel if you want updated grades.
Privacy
Your visa status is stored securely and used only for job filtering and matching. It is never shared with employers, job boards, or any third party.
