Uploading Your Resume
How to upload your resume and what happens next.
Supported formats
ApplyFast accepts PDF and DOCX files up to 5MB.
How to upload
During onboarding (Step 1), you'll see a drag-and-drop zone. Drop your file there, or click to open a file picker.
Already past onboarding? Go to Settings > Profile to upload a new resume at any time.
What happens after upload
Your file is stored securely in a private bucket. ApplyFast's parser (powered by Affinda) extracts:
- Contact info -- Name, email, phone
- Skills -- Programming languages, tools, frameworks
- Experience -- Job titles, companies, dates, descriptions
- Education -- Degrees, institutions, graduation dates
You'll see the extracted data on a confirmation screen. Review it carefully. If the parser misread something, edit it before confirming. This data drives all your match scores, so accuracy matters.
Tips for best results
- Use a clean, single-column layout. Fancy designs confuse parsers.
- Spell out acronyms at least once (e.g., "Amazon Web Services (AWS)").
- Include specific tools and technologies. "Python, TensorFlow, PostgreSQL" scores better than "various programming languages."
- Keep it to 1-2 pages. The parser handles longer files, but ATS systems prefer brevity.
